Dakshineswar Kali temple is a Hindu temple located at the bank of Hugli river at Dakshineswar. This place is a common destination to visit, as Hindu goddess MAA KALI is worshiped here since the temple was created by RANI RASMONI in 1855. This temple is also famous because it was served by SRI SRI RAMAKRISHNA PARAMHANSA DEV in the 19th century(one of his deciple was SWAMI VIVEKANANDA). From early days the people of Bengal and people of different parts of India started visiting this place and made this place a common place to visit with their families.
The visit to Dakshineswar kali temple is incomplete without visiting ADYAPITH TEMPLE which is just 2 kms away from dakshineswar temple.
Total 12 small temples of Shiva and one Radha Krishna temple is also there with the temple of maa Kali. There is a temple of RANI RASMONI at the outside premises of Dakshineswar temple. You should also visit the SHAYAN KAKSH ( living room) of SRI PARAMHANSA DEV and MAA SARADAA which is in the corner and beside or after the 12th Shiva temple.
RITUALS :
After arrival the first thing to do or the first ritual everyone follows is to take bath in the holy river GANGA( local name HUGLI). There are two ghats(concrete structures of stairs made at the side of the river) where thousands of people take bath and freshen themselves physically as well as spiritually, after that they have collect or buy the needed things called বাঁটা in Bengali( set of sweets which will be the prasadam, flower etc). Now after buying বাঁটা it's time to submit your mobile,wallets at the dedicated counter and stand in the Que and wait till you reach the main temple of maa Kali. You will get a very less time to see a glance of maa Kali to offer your praying. When you reach or get closer near the get of temple you have to handover your বাঁটা to the temple associates and they will touch that বাঁটা to the feet of maa Kali and they will give back that বাঁটা with the MAHAPRASADAM only.

If you are locals or your home is in the nearby districts of Kolkata and if you are traveling via train, then you need to arrive at Dakshineswar station and from there you can take a TOTO or eRIKSHAW or you can walk to reach the temple. Those who prefer bus they have to arrive DAKSHINESWAR BUS STOP and from there you can reach the temple. There are several buses running daily connecting this place with all parts of Kolkata and the nearby districts. Nearby crowded bus transits and railway stations are BALLY HALT , DUNLOP ( Dakshineswar is between these two transits or railway stations).
If you are boarding train from Sealdah station then you need to take SEALDAH-DANKUNI local and depart at Dakshineswar station.
If you are boarding train from Howrah Station then you have to take HOWRAH-BARDHHAMAN local or any locals in this route and you have to depart at BALLY station and from there you have to take bus to reach Dakshineswar bus stop.
If you are boarding from Bardhaman station then you need to take Howrah local and depart at DANKUNI station and from there again board a Sealdah local to reach Dakshineswar station.
There are many bus routes which connects Kolkata to Dakshineswar via dum dum airport bus transits and Dunlop bus transits. And there many bus routes from different parts of Howrah and hugli districts via dankuni bus transits and bally bus transits.
